Using Conversational AI to get the most out of your Enterprise Database

The conference is almost here! Diego Ventura, CEO of noHold, will be presenting on March 11 at 1:15 PM PST. He's talk is titled, "Using Conversational AI to get the most out of your Enterprise Database." Here is a short summary on the topic:

Most enterprises rely on powerful databases to manage customer relationships, inventory, HR information, etc. But gathering information from them is not always easy and often requires the use of predefined reports or the help of IT specialists.  What if you could simply say: "show me customers in California who have spent at least $500K in the last 12 months and that are non-profit".  It is now possible to create simple straightforward conversational interfaces on top of the databases that govern our lives.  The application of this technology is not limited only to the enterprise, but it can be used also by individuals while shopping, or booking the next vacation: "what laptops do you have with an i7 processor, that cost less than $1250 and with a 2.8Ghz clock?"

Diego will also participate in a keynote panel: Building a Digital Assistant or Chatbot on March 12th. For more details please visit, http://www.conversationalinteraction.com/program
Looking forward to seeing some of you there!

noHold Conducts Study on Students’ Opinion of Artificial Intelligence and its role in Higher Education

January 31, 2019, MILPITAS, CA – noHold has always thought that leveraging Virtual Assistants that could help students with topics such as navigating around campus, understanding the enrollment process, or how to get financial aid was a good idea. Recently, we surveyed students from colleges and universities around the US to get their opinion on Artificial Intelligence and how it could be used at their school.
Here are the results we gathered from the survey:
  • According to the survey, 3 out of 4 students think that a Virtual Assistant is a good idea.
  • The majority of students reported using a Virtual Assistant within the last 6 months, and Siri was the most commonly used.
  • The preferred way of communicating with the Virtual Assistant would be through a dedicated app, and a close second was on the schools’ website.
  • Most student would want the Virtual Assistant to help them with getting around campus, answering questions like “where is the biology lab?” The next topics would be enrollment and then IT questions.

Overall, the Student Evaluation of Artificial Intelligence received positive feedback and demonstrated that students are interested in using Artificial Intelligence in a school setting to make their lives a little easier. Students from the study said, “Seems like a great solution for the problems at larger schools being more confusing to navigate as well as getting help when needed!” and “Would be great for general information around campus like operating times and contact information for certain departments.” Diego Ventura, CEO and Founder of noHold, adds, “I was surprised to see that when students were asked about their favorite channel to access a Virtual Assistant, smart speakers were not included.”

Virtual Assistant Usage to Increase in 2019

noHold, Inc. Welcomes 2019!

Happy New Year! As we all start getting back into our routines after what hopefully was a great holiday, I wanted to share a quick read from Forbes contributor, Bernard Marr, "5 Important Artificial Intelligence Predictions (For 2019) Everyone Should Read."

According to Forbes, this year we can expect to see many positive things come from the AI space. For one, AI use cases will continue to become more wide spread throughout different industries and sectors. Companies (in every industry) have seen the advantages to implementing an AI strategy. For example, when noHold first started creating Virtual Assistants in 1999, it was primarily for customer support purposes, and typically with the consumer electronics space. Just in the last year, we have seen AI adoption grow exponentially within the Financial and Educational industries. This just proves how versatile and commonly used Virtual Assistants are today.

Also, this year we can expect AI user satisfaction to increase. As the technology continues to become smarter, more people will find AI-based Virtual Assistants to be useful.

Here is an infographic found on ISG-one.com demonstrating that automation and AI usage is expected to triple in 2019.

For more information on Virtual Assistants, and how your company can benefit from this technology, feel free to contact noHold here to schedule a call.

3 Proven Advantages to Implementing a Virtual Assistant

Just last month (Sept 12)  noHold celebrated its 19th year in business. Since then, noHold has built over 1300 enterprise Virtual Assistants for Fortune 500 companies around the world. From the beginning the SICURA® platform was designed with business in mind. Making it one of the few Artificial Intelligence tools that can be managed and maintained without an engineer.

Metrics prove that companies have seen great advantages from leveraging our Virtual Assistants such as:

  • 52% deflection in traffic to the Contact Center from the website.
  • 3.5% increase in sales the first month.
  • 45% reduction in escalation to Tier 2 Agents.
We believe that noHold's pursuit of better service is the driving force behind the focus in its technology, and continuous innovation has been the key to producing Virtual Assistants that stand the test of time. noHold's CEO and Founder of the company 19 years ago, Diego Ventura, has earned a reputation as a pioneer within this industry. He has been invited to speak at a few conferences in the coming months such as AI World (December 2018) and AVIOS' Conversational Interactions (March2019).

Stay tuned for more details about those conferences soon.

Implementing Artificial Intelligence to Help Your Back-to-School Customers

Credit

August is here, and that means thousands of students are getting ready to get back into the classroom. It also means back-to-school deals will be rolling out all month long. Year after year, back-to-school season is typically the 2nd largest consumer spending period of the year, and it is expected to continue that trend this year.

Classrooms (and the kids learning inside them) are getting more technilogically advanced every year. Some common tech gadgets that parents, teachers, and students are getting for the school year include laptops, computers, tablets, headsets, cell phones, amazon's Student Prime membership which gets you access to top student deals, and more.

Companies can't forget to optimize their website. In 2017, it was reported that 1/3 of the family budget was spent online, and over 60% of consumers were shopping online for deals and comparisons (signs.com). Being able to give great customer service to each customer during their customer journey is very important.

Just recently, noHold issued a press release announcing a new module to its AI platform called NLP2X. This technology makes online back-to-school shopping so much easier AND quicker. Take laptops for example. Instead of having to sift through pages and pages of laptop options on websites, a Virtual Assistant can take your natural language inquire and convert it into database commands. For example, an end user can ask, "Show me all laptops that are on sale, with 4 GB of memory or more and a 2.80 Ghz clock." In seconds, the Virtual Assistant will display the laptops that match that criteria.

Virtual Assistants are not only helpful shopping assistants, but can aslo handle the influx of support questions that typically accompanies peak seasons, too. Check out this infographic showing how noHold's Virtual Assistants have actually helped companies in various industries handle spikes in the call center.

If you are interested in learning more about how noHold's Virtual Assistants can help your company increase customer satisfaction and grow sales, please feel free to reach out.

noHold’s Artificial Intelligence Improves the Way the Appliances Industry Engages with Customers

March 15, 2018, MILPITAS, CA – noHold is revolutionizing the customer experience for the Home Appliance industry through Artificial Intelligence. Home appliances are an essential part of consumers’ everyday life, and noHold thinks companies in this space need more than just a great product to be successful, they need to create a great customer journey as well.

noHold has developed a strategy to be able to invoke a Virtual Assistant through a QR code that is positioned directly on the product. Using this strategy, customers’ would have to put little effort into searching for answers/ information. Here is an example of how a company can use noHold’s technology to reduce Customer Effort Score (CES) for both potential buyers and current customers.

A woman comes into a store looking for a new refrigerator. She finds one, but has a couple of questions about it. Instead of trying to find the right salesperson that knows about that specific refrigerator, she uses her smart phone to scan the QR code on the product. Instantly, a Virtual Assistant appears and answers her questions. She ends up buying the refrigerator. A couple years later, she is having a problem with her ice maker. Using the same process of scanning a QR code, she is able to quickly find the exact part she needs to buy to fix her ice maker.

Using the QR codes to leverage a Virtual Assistant was beneficial for a few reasons.
  • She did not need to look and wait for a sales personal that knew about a product.
  • Even after several years of owning the fridge, she did not need to scavenge up the manual she probably threw away.
  • The Virtual Assistant was able to upsell.
  •  Metrics were captured to learn about her experience, and used to improve the product or support for the product.

QR codes are not the only unique way people can pull up a Virtual Assistant. noHold has created connectors to Google Home, Amazon’s Alexa, Facebook Messenger, and more, so people can reach the Virtual Assistant through their preferred channel, whenever they want.

Diego Ventura, Founder and CEO of noHold, adds, "I believe we are in a unique position to help companies accomplish this paradigm, because we have built a platform that empowers companies to create Virtual Assistants automatically out of existing documents such as manuals."

Computer Manufacturers and ISVs Leverage noHold’s Artificial Intelligence to Help with Meltdown and Spectre Crisis

January 31, 2018, MILPITAS, CA – At the beginning of 2018, the news broke about Meltdown and Spectre, two new computer vulnerabilities that put almost all processors manufactured in the last 20 years at risk for a cyber attack. According to The New York Times, almost all devices can possess the security flaw including desktops, laptops, cloud-based computers, tablets, smartphones, and other gadgets.

This news made waves in all aspects of a business, including the less obvious impact it had on the customer support teams. noHold works with some of the leaders in PC manufacturing and in the software industry. As you can imagine, these type of companies saw a significant increase in Virtual Assistant interactions regarding the crisis. The bulk of the questions being asked were, “Am I affected?” and, “How do I fix it?”

Here is a quick summary showing just how quickly these companies were able to respond to their customers through the virtual assistant.
  • At 9:15 am we got a call from some of our customer regarding the potential knowledge gap regarding the recent Spectre/Meltdown news.
  • Immediately, noHold was able to look at the metrics and confirm that 5% of all contacts were about Spectre and Meltdown.
  • By 10:10 am, relevant content was uploaded and live on the Virtual Assistant.
  • In a matter of a week, the Virtual Assistant has successfully answered 97% of the questions regarding the crisis. The number is continuously growing as the security flaws become better known to the public.

This is a real time example of how a Virtual Assistant can help companies in the midst of a crisis. These companies were able to provide their customers with answers through their preferred channel, avoid a spike in call center interactions, and do it quickly. Diego Ventura, CEO and Founder of noHold adds, “Avoiding or helping a customer manage a crisis is one the most important things we do. I’m glad we played a role in helping customers’ better deal with this issue.”

October 31, 2017, MILPITAS, CA – noHold is excited to announce Tunstall as a new Albert customer. Tunstall is leveraging noHold’s Artificial Intelligence as a way for customers to find answers to the questions they have about their newly launched product called Smart Hub.

Tunstall, an international company that offers a range of Connected Care and Connected Health solutions, recently launched their Smart Hub product in Australia and is currently undergoing trials in Europe and the USA. The Smart Hub is Tunstall’s latest IP home unit, opening a new world of possibilities for the provision of care in the home. What the Metrics Are Saying about Chatbot Usage In the United States

Just recently, The Wall Street Journal picked up a study done by using metrics from noHold Virtual Assistants. Looking at 350,000 chatbot sessions, we were able to show how users are interacting with AI across the United States.Check out the screenshot below.

Here are some more of noHold's key findings from the study:
  • California sees the most number of sessions per month.
  • Connecticut is the state that provides the most feedback about the Virtual Assistant.
  • Users in Montana have the highest percentage of escalations to a different support channel. Montana also has the most verbose users, starting the interaction with an average of 5 words.
  • In Ohio people stay online with the Virtual Assistant for 15 minutes, while in New Jersey end users are typically done in 10.
  • Delaware and California are at the top of the list for starting a session with a greeting or nice word such as “Good morning, I am looking for…”
These findings are really telling of the age we are currently in. People become more comfortable interacting with AI than ever before, and the types of interactions are becoming more human as well. The Next Web also picked up the infographic from above and gave there take on the current age of AI. Check out that article here.

June 20, 2017, MILPITAS, CA – noHold, a leader in web based self-service solutions, was named Cool Vendor in AI for Conversational Platforms, 2017 by Gartner. The Cool Vendor series is used to discover emerging innovative SMB vendors with interesting and highly original technology that impact their respective markets in a big way. This is the first year Gartner published a Cool Vendor report for this category.

According to the report, “The use of conversational platforms is a much-hyped topic, with chatbots, assistants, messaging platforms and other natural-language processing (NLP) uses vying for attention. The five Cool Vendors in this note show the breadth of offerings available and are representatives of the cutting-edge innovation in their respective fields.” (Cool Vendors for AI in Conversational Platforms, 2017, 30 May 2017) noHold’s latest platform, SICURA QuickStart, is an example of that type of revolutionary technology being put forward. The Next Web Interviews noHold's CEO for Insider Knowledge on What's Going on in the World of AI

Article of the week: The Next Web's Josiah Motley wrote an article about how AI is transforming customer service. He asked Diego Ventura, CEO of noHold, to share a few of his thoughts on the topic. He goes into the increase in consumer interaction with AI (whether we know it or not), and, the question that gets asked all the time, what does that mean for our jobs.

"I see Virtual Assistants [VAs]  for one, as a way to primarily improve the customer experience and, two, augmenting the capabilities of existing employees – rather than simply taking their jobs. VAs help users find information more easily. Most of the VA users are people who were going to the Web to self-serve anyway, we are just making it easier for them to find what they are looking for and yes, prevent escalations to the call center."

noHold’s AI Continues to Improve Efficiency in the Call Center

SICURA QuickStart™ is making it easier than ever for Call Centers to adopt bots

April 27, 2017, MILPITAS, CA – Since the launch of SICURA QuickStart, users have shared multiple ways they are using Albert (the bot created from existing documents). One use case that adds significant value to businesses is leveraging Albert in the Call Center. Recently, a globally recognized conference brand based in Long Beach, CA, created an Albert designed specifically to help Call Center Agents become proficient quickly, and compliant when answering customer questions.

This Call Center is responsible for providing technical support and customer care to people in multiple countries 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round. After trying different methods and resources to help Agents, the Call Center Manager turned to noHold for help.
In the past, noHold has worked with large enterprises to implement Virtual Assistants in the Call Center, proving Artificial Intelligence works as a great resource not only for customers, but also Agents. According to a recent blog by Cisco, bots are included in the top ten technologies to consider for contact centers in 2017 (Cisco).

Now, with SICURA QuickStart, the same concept can be applied using Albert, except no programming skills are required to create Albert and the implementation time is much quicker. The Call Center Manager was able to input all the content Agents needed to know about into one Word document, upload it to the QuickStart platform, and within minutes a bot was created. Agents are able to use Albert while replying to customers’ emails, and also while on the phone.  Specifically, the Call Center Manager achieved the following objectives:
  • They reduced the time to get an agent up to speed from one month to one week.
  •  Agents were excited to get a tool that made their job easier and more fun, which decreased churn significantly.
  • Since Albert delivers information to the agents’ fingertips in real time, AHT dropped by 12 points.
  • Consistency and compliance of the information delivered by the agents improved significantly because agents were all leveraging one single source of information.
  • Albert provides specific reporting on how many questions agents ask every day and what most of the questions are about. This helps the Call Center Manager make sure that the company is always ahead of what is needed to make the agents successful.

In summary, Albert took less than an hour to set up and it paid for itself upon launch. Most of all, Albert helped the Call Center Manager with the constant challenge of onboarding and training new agents necessary to keep the Call Center fully staffed.

Diego Ventura, CEO and Founder of noHold says, “We believe that Albert is taking the Consumerization of IT one step further, empowering agents with the same sophisticated tools, such as bots, that people are starting to use in their daily lives.”

To learn more about how businesses can leverage Albert to improve Call Center efficiency, you can find more information here.

noHold Connects its own Albert with Amazon’s Alexa

March 30, 2017, MILPITAS, CA – noHold is excited to announce the availability of a connector that can link SICURA™ QuickStart to Amazon’s Alexa. QuickStart empowers non-programmers to create a bot (Albert) from any existing documents such as, product manuals, employee manuals, training documents, etc. Through the connector Albert can now easily turn a document into an Alexa skill. For example, say you want to extend Alexa to answer questions about your home. Today, to be able to achieve this goal, you would have to be a programmer, or at least very technically savvy. With Albert this is no longer the case. All you have to do is:
  1. Create a document that contains FAQ’s about your home (i.e. where is the main valve for the water? Where is the electrical panel?)
  2. Use QuickStart to create an Albert by ingesting the document
  3. Use the connector to link Albert to Alexa

From that moment on, you can say, “Alexa, ask Albert where the water valve is?” and Alexa will answer back from the knowledge she obtains from Albert. This can be a pretty useful system, especially if your guests are accidentally flooding your home.

Other use cases involve creating an Albert/Alexa combination that can answer questions in the boardroom, at a hotel concierge, in a company lobby, at the post office, in a classroom, etc. The possibilities are endless.

The next step is to take the connector from the lab and make it available to everybody with the click of a button. Diego Ventura, CEO and Founder of noHold said, “I am looking forward to the day when everybody with a QuickStart account and an Amazon Echo will be able to expand Alexa’s capabilities in minutes without having to be a programmer. With a bit of luck, that moment is around the corner.”

Small Businesses Adopt noHold’s Newest Product, Albert, Adding Value for Little to No Cost

January 24, 2017, MILPITAS, CA – A little over a month ago, noHold launched the BETA version of the platform, SICURA™ QuickStart. This platform empowers anyone, including non-programmers, to easily create, implement, and maintain a Virtual Assistant (Albert) through a Word or GoogleDoc. The BETA program is now officially over. People can get a free personal account at www.albertai.com and clicking sign up in the top right corner.

Since the launch, Albert has received positive feedback from large enterprises to personal users. Top press publications such as The Next Web, Forbes, PCWorld and more have also recognized the advantages that stem from SICURA QuickStart, and the simplicity of operating it. In addition, small businesses are also finding this technology to be extremely powerful, allowing them to provide customers with the self-service options they crave, without breaking the bank.

Here are a few examples, just from the past month, of small businesses that have leveraged Albert in various ways already. Each example includes a short video showing how each company is utilizing Albert.
  • Filosano is a curated marketplace for sustainable fashion. They needed a way to take existing content on the website such as vendor information and product materials, and package it in a way that can deliver that information to end users efficiently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytvyAX_HANw
  • Centro39 is a high fashion online boutique centered on clothing from Italy. Just like many small businesses, customer service departments can be small or sometimes nonexistent. Centro39 is leveraging Albert to fill that gap, being a part of the team to answer support questions 24/7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLRo41CvQaY
  • Revolve Robotics, creators of the telepresence robot Kubi, is using Albert to enhance the customer experience. Klaudia Izabella, Customer Success Manager at Revolve Robotics says, “…bringing affordable telepresence and robotics technology to those in the world who need it is our goal, and with Albert we can focus on the bigger picture.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77LJ8bbhTbM

To learn more about the SICURA™ QuickStart platform and other companies that are using Albert, visit www.albertai.com.  Also, noHold’s Founder and CEO, Diego Ventura, will be speaking at the Conversational Interaction Conference on January 30 in San Jose, CA. He will share his expertise on chatbots, the Internet of Things, and where he sees the industry going. To register, click here.

“We are surprised every day by the way in which people are deploying Albert,” says Diego Ventura, founder and CEO of noHold. “The smaller companies focus on customer relationships to answer pre and post sales questions. The larger companies instead are finding ways for Albert to bring efficiency to internal processes. For example, if you work at a company employing 20,000 individuals, just finding access to the right resources may be a challenge. Albert can help with that easily, and with the documents you already have.”
